Michaela's class celebrated the Chinese New Year in class today. The snake presented that if you were born in 2001 you would be rich. If you were born the year of the dragon in 2000 you would have lots of friends. You were suppose to wear red to give good luck. The dragon in Chinese would have firecrackers. The firecrackers represented to scare all the evil spirits away. So they would start a good year. We got some money on a necklace also. During the parade they would give out red envelopes with their money in it. That's really all.
(All the above words are right from Michaela's mouth) I asked her then when she was done telling me all about it...if she knew what her mommy put her trust in and believed in? And her answer was the BIBLE. Yeah!! She told me that is what she believed in also. But "mom" this is what we talked about in school today. I'm glad she shared with me today.
