Lee Alexander Kuenzi
Lee Alexander Kuenzi March 21, 1924 - April 13 2009 SALEM - Lee Alexander Kuenzi, 85, of Salem, Oregon, went home to be with his Lord on April 13, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 21, 1924 in Silverton, Oregon, son of Harvey and Emma (Kaser) Kuenzi. He married Louise Von Flue on April 6, 1947, who preceded him in death. He married Janet Klopfenstein on June 25, 1989. Lee was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Silverton. His faith and family were the most important part of his life. In 1950, he purchased a farm in the Waldo Hills east of Salem where he raised grass seed and registered Hereford cattle until his retirement. In his younger years, Lee logged in the Silverton area and also raised hops. For many years he enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandsons, restoring antique farm equipment and working with his draft horses and mules. Lee is survived by his wife, Janet Kuenzi of Salem, Oregon; 14 children and their spouses, Terrence (Ann) Kuenzi of Salem, Nicholas (Mary) Kuenzi of Salem, Myron (Diane) Kuenzi of Salem, Laura (Robert) Kieser of Bloomington, Ill., Rebecca (Carl) Kieser of Gibson City, Ill., Arthur (Mary Beth) Kuenzi of Salem, Lavonne (John) Teubel of Forest, Ill., Marianne (Richard) Kraft of Salem, Jason (Jo) Kuenzi of Jefferson, Oregon, Juanita (William) Kaeb of Arrowsmith, Ill., Nathan (Sarah) Kuenzi of Salem, Nadine (Keith) Edelman of Congerville, Ill., Harvey (Jennifer) Kuenzi of Salem, Lucille (Trent) Meiss of Eureka, Ill.; 88 grandchildren; and 60 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers, Lewis (Gloria, deceased), Glen (Shirley), Ralph (Jean), James (Barbara), Richard (Rosa Lee), Robert (Linda), Lynn (Marilyn); 2 sisters, Helen (Alfred, deceased) Dettwyler and Marian (Otto, deceased) Sinn, all are living in the Salem/Silverton area and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Emma Kuenzi; one infant son, Arlen Kuenzi (April 13-20, 1955); two grandchildren, Mary Ann Kuenzi and Benjamin Meiss; and one great-grandson, Jaden Meyer. The visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 16 at Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Center (adjacent to the church) and a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17 at the Apostolic Christian Church, 4700 Howell Prairie Rd, Silverton. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery on 119th Ave., Salem. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16 at Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton for those unable to attend the visitation (family will not be in attendance at Ungers.) Memorials can be given to the Silverton Apostolic Christian Church Alms Fund or the American Parkinson's Disease Association, P.O. Box 75169, Seattle, Wash. 89725.

Oh Marie....your family has our thoughts and prayers. I have heard so much about this dear man! He will leave such a legacy!

What a wonderful tribute to your Grandpa! My Dad passed away on April 13th a few years ago. I'm sure I will think of you each year now as that date draws near.
