ROBERTS - F. Clarence Sturm, 91, Roberts, died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 5, 2009) at the Prairieview Lutheran Home, Danforth.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Roberts, with the Revs. Priscilla and Matthew Geerdes officiating. Burial will be in Lyman Township Cemetery, Roberts. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church and for an hour before the service Monday.
Mr. Sturm was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Roberts, a son of Fred and Ida Marie Schava Sturm. He married Lois Waide on Sept. 7, 1938, in Albion, Ind. She died Sept. 1, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry (Linda) Sturm, Edgewater, Fla., and Jeff (Laurie) Sturm, Roberts; two daughters, Janeen (Lou) Prosser, Saybrook, and Judy (John) Weber, Boswell, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and his favorite cat, "White Sox."
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Sturm, and two sisters.
Clarence was a farmer and a carpenter all of his life.
He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Roberts; Men in Mission; past Sunday school teacher; past treasurer; and was on the Building Committee, all with the church. Clarence was an avid Chicago White Sox fan.
Memorials may be made to his church, Prairieview Lutheran Home or Iroquois County Hospice Program. Lamb-Young Funeral Home, Roberts, is in charge of arrangements

Oh, my heart sank with this post. It is always sad to see a wonderful older gentleman pass...I have a tender spot for the older generation. So much wealth within who they are.
